Kenya Crowned African Rafting Champions 2026 After a Dominant Display at the World Rafting Championships in the Sprint Category

Kenya has stamped its authority on the African rafting scene after delivering a remarkable performance on the opening day of the 2026 World Rafting Championships, earning the title of African Rafting Champions 2026.

The first day of competition saw athletes take on the challenging Sprint Category, a high-speed discipline that tests precision, teamwork, strength, and the ability to navigate powerful rapids within the shortest possible time.

Competing on home waters, Team Kenya showcased exceptional skill and determination, collecting an impressive medal haul that placed the country at the top of African rafting rankings.

The Kenyan team secured four gold medals in the African Rafting Championship across major categories, including:

  • Men’s Overall Category(Team KEN 2)

  • Women’s Overall Category(Team KEN 2)

  • Mixed Overall Category(Team KEN 1)

  • Para Rafting Overall Category

The outstanding performance was further strengthened by four silver medals in:

  • Men’s Para Rafting

  • Men’s Overall Category( Team KEN 1)

  • Women’s Overall Category  (Team KEN 1)

  • Mixed Overall Category (Team KEN 2)

Team Kenya also claimed four bronze medals in:

  • Men’s Category

  • Women’s Category

  • Men’s Overall Category

  • Women’s Overall Category

The remarkable achievement saw Kenya emerge as the leading African nation in rafting, earning the prestigious recognition of African Rafting Champions 2026.
